Ky Tran is an artist exploring their vision. They grew up with an unexplored interest in art among other interests, engineering being the other big one. Midway through their engineering program at university they decided to try out art for a semester and immediately fell in love. There was no going back, but the art program at their university was so bad they soon dropped out to study art independently. Like many artists, there have been a lot of ups and downs in their pursuit but they finally feel they’re able to successfully communicate some of the things they find most beautiful. They’re grateful to be here and they want to share the things they notice. Their works are mostly surreal fantasy-scapes and abstract form explorations. They explore the connection between ourselves and our world. To them beauty is about the interaction and dance between the self and other. They hope to create visual art that invokes more than just the visual sense. Often times their thoughts and ideas are accompanied by vivid visual impressions that persist and animate as they navigate a thought. In their abstract form explorations (they call them Thought Forms) they attempt to visually communicate the sensation of a specific thought or a mingling of thoughts. They try to convey what is familiar to us in the natural world in unfamiliar ways. Their hope is that viewers can see nature as if looking at it for the first time. Patrons will get a personal look into how their ideas come about as well as the technical creation process. Their process is more than just about communicating an idea, it is a conversation with the canvas and a way for them to navigate their emotional, intellectual, and philosophical ponderings in a visual way (How artsy-fartsy right? :P). They are constantly exploring new methods and the way they come to their finished works change drastically from one to the next. They hope to share these explorations with you. On rare occasion things go smoothly, kind of. Sometimes the idea needs to expand! Other times it evolves a mind of its own, slaps them in the face, and demands big changes. But so long as they can approach art honestly, it’s always a good time.
