Arnold Kemp is thinking about Dungeons & Dragons all the damn time. They can’t stop thinking about it. It’s a little bit scary, actually. They’ve been putting many of the most usable ideas on their blog, Goblin Punch, since 2012. And the response to that has been overwhelming positive. They’re at an interesting crossroads in their life where they need to decide what role they want D&D to play in their life. Is it just interesting thoughts that they write down when they’re bored, or do they want to organize and index those things so that they are accessible to people when they run their own games? Do they want to keep posting rough notes of their dungeons, or do they want to publish them as PDFs that are immediately usable? Because posting fun ideas and dungeon notes is fun and easy. The intrinsic reward of those things is enough to keep them doing them. They’ll never stop doing that. They’d like to make a bit of money doing it, though. They fucking love D&D. It’s their favorite thing. And if they could make a bit of money doing it, that’ll be their new favorite thing–getting paid to do the things that they love. Their blog will always be free. They will always have ideas, and they will always want to show them off. All their Patronage does is help them produce more content in a more usable fashion. They’ll actually proofread blog posts before they post. Promise. They’ll organize things on their blog so that you can find the stuff you want quicker. Indexes, collections, and javascript random table generators. They’ll periodically produce PDFs of their monsters, dungeons, treasures, and classes. They’ll be asking their supporters what they want them to work on more. Then they’ll actually do it. Basically: more of the good stuff, sooner and better.
