Ash J is a photographer and videographer who has been documenting protests, police and the policing of protests for about the last 7 years. They have also covered state violence against oppressed people and the fight against fascism. Most of their reporting covers NYC, but they have also covered protests in Washington DC, Philly and Santiago, Chile. It’s been amazing and really fulfilling to see firsthand and to document these incredible moments in history. The only problem is that, because of some things that have happened in their personal/family life over the last few months, it’s become imperative for them to find ways to better survive capitalism. They got a ticket for hopping a turnstile late last year, and it really made them realize how precarious their financial situation is. They had to crowdfund just to pay it off and luckily, a bunch of good comrades threw them some money for it. But sadly, things have only gotten worse for them this year.
