Author Eliza Andrews is writing novels and novellas that range across multiple genres, but the one thing they all have in common is that they feature protagonists who are LGBTQ+ women. When she was in her teens and twenties, she would often find herself yearning for queer storylines in the books, TV shows, and movies she loved. She wanted to see herself reflected in the stories that mattered to her, but she felt perpetually left out. Representation has gotten better over the years, but queer characters are usually still side-plots, rarely the main storyline. Eventually she decided, “To hell with this. I’ll write the stories I’m looking for my own damn self.” In 2016, she published her first lesbian fiction novel, To Have Loved and Lost. Much to her surprise, it quickly went to #1 in Amazon’s Lesbian Romance and Lesbian Fiction categories. She hasn’t looked back since.
