Avalon

Avalon

Avalon is a designer, journalist, and portrait artist currently pursuing dual degrees in journalism and fashion design at the New School. They make everything from performance art portraits on Broadway, to whimsical illustrations, to hand-painted ballgowns acclaimed by the New York Times. Everything they make is aimed at telling stories – uncovering untold narratives throughout history and turning them into art. As one of their patrons, you’ll get to hear what it’s like to design clothing and practice journalism in New York City. You will have unique insight into their artistic process and will follow along with them as they conceptualize clothing collections, draft patterns, paint, do research, and create projects that get them closer to their goal of making informative, vulnerable, identity-based art. You will also get to see what they make in their free time, from photo-realistic portrait commissions to tiny illustrations of dragons, basically everything they get up to as an artist. We’ll also get to explore new places together. Between making murals at an Apothecary in the Pacific Northwest, to taking measurements in their tiny Manhattan dorm, to searching for magical creatures in California and beyond, you’ll get to go on all of their adventures with them…it’s crazy fun. In addition to ALL THAT (as if you werent already sold) they will occasionally send you actual pieces of art, this will range from stickers and prints to fully finished custom work (depending on your tier) and it will be in pretty packaging! In exchange for all this you will be giving them reliable support to keep making what they’re making and to do so independently. This is essential to their ability to keep creating at a professional scale both in and out of school. You’ll be investing in their process as a designer and creator, and will become part of a community instead of just another transaction. They cant thank you enough. Long story short, expect art, storytelling, and adventure.
