Body Politic is a grassroots health justice organization at the forefront of the patient-led Long COVID movement. Through a global network of COVID19 patients, chronic illness allies, and health and disability advocates, Body Politic breaks down barriers to patient-driven whole-person care and well-being, particularly for historically marginalized communities. They do this by facilitating peer-support, cultivating patient-led research and public education, and leading community-based advocacy. Their community’s home base is their COVID-19 Support Group, housed on Slack, which serves over 11K patients and caregivers across the globe. Their support group and expert event offerings are free for all patients to access, and their group is run by a dedicated team of volunteers who are also COVID patients and/or survivors. Behind the scenes, their volunteer team is meeting regularly with health agencies, researchers and medical organizations from the CDC to the White House Covid-19 Task Force to advocate on behalf of Long COVID patients and the greater needs of the Covid-19 patient community.
