Patron Hunt

Boum is a cartoonist who is best known for their journal webcomic BOUMERIES. They are also the author of A SMALL REVOLUTION (Front Froid, 2012 and Soaring Penguin Press, 2017) and NAUSES MATINALES ET AUTRES PETITS BONHEURS (La Pastque, 2019). Now that BOUMERIES has come to an end in February 2020, Boum plans to blog about their current projects. They are presently working on their biggest graphic novel yet titled The Jellyfish, and Boum will be posting work-in-progress images, character designs, page excerpts, etc. and will be the first, if not the only, to see all of these. For the $1 tier, patrons will have access to all the comics-in-progress blog posts. Patrons pledging $2 or more will have access to the blog posts and to all the Boumeries bonus comics, past and future. The webcomic has ended, but that doesn’t mean Boum is quitting journal comics entirely. Any new Boumeries strips Boum is making, they will post here ONLY, before publishing them in actual books. This pledge is updated less often nowadays, but there’s a huge archive to dig into if you search the $2 tier posts. Finally, the $20+ pledge gives patrons access to the blog posts and the bonus comics, and Boum will be mailing them one random original Boumeries comic every month, until they run out (which, at this rate, should take a few decades). It’s no secret being a cartoonist is a tough labour that doesn’t bring in a lot of money to their household. Working on personal projects, even through publishers, doesn’t pay well. Going to conventions hoping to sell books, applying for grants and working side illustration jobs is usually what gets them through. But since Patreon launched, Boum has been making a little more money, thanks to all of their patrons. It really does make life easier, even if it’s just a buck or two per month.
