CanberraUAV is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to developing and promoting the field of civilian UAVs. They were originally formed to compete in the 2012 UAV Outback Challenge. Since then they have expanded to perform general R&D work for UAS. They heavily contribute to the advancement of open-source UAS (such as Ardupilot) and believe this is where the greatest advancements in civilian UAS technology will be made.
