Daniel VanEijl is on a mission. They are seeking understanding. They crave honesty. They need integrity. They want to believe in something. The great American art form of jazz, has inspired them, and comforted them, thru so many days and nights when they needed a light. When the path seems darkest, to illuminate thru someone else’s eyes, the same path they are on, is not only informative, but can be powerful. Jazz frees a man from his weight. His sorrow, his fear. It medicates the pain of this walk. Makes the last mile seem doable. They aim to continue bringing great content, and with the support of supporters like you, they’ll keep digging deeper into the cracks that divide us. In order to fulfill their vision of this channel, and eventually open their Jazz bed n breakfast, they’ll need the help of supporters like you. They want to have a place where the weary traveller can spend a weekend immersed in jazz talk, music, and culture. To let the history of this nation, inform the times we are in, and to maybe, if they’re lucky, be a part of the solution. Dialogue is the massive first step out of the darkness and into each other’s lives. Empathy comes only from understanding. They have many ideas yet to come to fruition. Support from people such as themselves, who share a similar viewpoint of how things should be, and can be, will be needed for them to continue growing, and hopefully reshaping some of our philosophies, towards our community’s, and to bring us together. Jazz has done all this before. It has fought on many battlefields. Today the world is more divided than we have been in a while. Content that is not brought to people from some corporate agenda, but rather the philosophies of the oppressed, and the forgotten ones, who speak thru this art. All they need is an interpreter. That’s where the Jazz Shepherd and their flock of jazz lp’s come in. They are trying to hear that voice. They know on a small scale how it feels to be an outsider. Persecuted. Not a part of. They think this Jazz Journal opportunity is a means to that end. Plus one more step towards the “Tolerance” Jazz Lounge Bed n Breakfast. All of this points towards the building they’re in, in a few years becoming that place. They’ll need to some work on the building, and some exterior work as well, but they’re already starting that process, and they’ll need to raise funds, along the road, to make this dream become a reality. A safe harbor, for travellers in the night from the seven seas, to the four corners of the earth, to gather in, and to share some light . . . . Event space, eventually a small coffee shop, and seasonal cafe. Maybe even a basement “speakeasy” down the road. A path is laid, one stone at a time.
