E.G. Bailey & Sha Cage (Tru Ruts) are interdisciplinary artists working across film, theater, poetry and new media. They do this through their artistic entity; Tru Ruts. They are filmmakers and theater artists, community activists who write, direct, edit and produce work that speaks to issues facing their communities–from performance theatre to web series to music videos to narrative and documentary films. Basically – they’ve worked their butts off for 20 years creating art that is transformative while holding community at the center. And they’ve not done it alone. Their work has been recognized nationally and internationally and they’ve been privileged to work with luminaries such as Amiri Baraka, Laurie Carlos, J. Otis Powell!, and Marion McClinton; and have founded leading artistic platforms and entities they are so very proud of including Tru Ruts, the Million Artist Movement, and the MN Spoken Word Association. They are poised and humbly ready to use their art and deep community roots to break new ground. They are at a turning point in their work launching this Patreon in recognition of their passion for this work that is not a side job but one that they work at every day.
