Freckles is using Patreon as a means to get time off from commissions so they can focus on their comics instead. The more pledges they get, the less commissions they have to do, and the more pages they can post on their page monthly. What they offer their patrons access to are works in progress of their comic pages and posts of finished comic pages as they get done. Thankfully, Patreon made it easier to post comics now, in galleries easy to browse through pages.
