Gaby Castro

Gaby Castro

Gaby Castro is a San Francisco Bay Area-based singer-songwriter. Their music falls best into the folk genre, with elements of pop, country, and Americana. Their musical influences include Taylor Swift, Hunter Hayes, James Bay, Noah Kahan, Shania Twain, and Kacey Musgraves. The artists they “sound like” the most are Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, and Jewel. They wrote their first song when they were 12, picked up the guitar at 13, and wrote/released their first album at 16. Throughout high school, they performed at various open mics around the Bay Area and started playing paid gigs for the first time. The fall of their senior year of high school, while applying to colleges and studying for the SAT, they wrote and recorded their second album with Grammy-nominated producer and artist Robert Berry. They attended McNally Smith College of Music in Saint Paul, MN, majoring in Songwriting and minoring in Music Business. While living in the Twin Cities, they immersed themselves into the music community and found a home in this incredibly diverse and extremely underrated music community. After completing their bachelor’s degree, they moved back home to the Bay Area and jumped into the farmer’s market circuit, wrote and released their third album, and started gigging regularly (playing 3-4 gigs a month along with 3-4 farmer’s markets). Most recently, they completed a Master of Arts in Music Business through Berklee Online, wrote and released their first bilingual EP, created a music program for libraries combining music and mental health, and started regularly gigging outside of the Bay Area to bring their music to other communities. They’ve reached a point in their career where they’re ready to expand to other opportunities, and launching a Patreon is one of them! The reason they’ve gotten as far as they have is thanks to hard work and the support of their music community. They make music to connect with people and create a sense of belonging in this world. After running a few campaigns to raise funds for their third album and EP, they discovered how fun it is to come up with creative perks and give back to patrons. They’d love to continue this on a regular basis through Patreon.
