Jesse Sterling Harrison has been creating stuff since the early 90s. They’ve released or worked on more than 20 albums as a solo artist, band member or session player, as well as numerous demos, EPs and live recordings. Always a generalist, they’ve performed on guitar, keyboards, bass, drums and percussion as well as vocals and served as bandleader, sideman, session cat, producer, mixer and promoter. Life with its many other challenges and responsibilities has sometimes taken them offstage or out of the studio for a while, but the fire burns on, and they inevitably always pick up the guitar and start writing. After a self-imposed exile from playing while they tried to establish their small business, they started writing a new record in late 2019. Recently this process escalated, and all that pent-up musical energy resulted in more than 20 new songs. As of right now they’re putting the finishing touches on their home studio to get this stuff down on tape. And the music has a name now: progressive folk. They’ve performed as a folkie, blues-rocker, grunger, punk and metalhead, but the stuff that resonates with their fans, friends and family the most is narrative folk stuff often spiced up with some of the heavier instrumentation or more interesting chordings and structures of alternative or heavy music. Now we’ll see what it sounds like.
