Jessie is David’s Doll and they are Friends Here. They do High Stakes Tarot, a livestream wherein they smoke a fuck ton of weed and flip tarot cards for curious strangers. Their origin story is that they have always just known things. They knew the tree was going to fall that night in their front yard. They knew that the note coming in to the classroom was for their friend Dianne saying that her lunch was in the office. At 14, their boyfriend gave them an old deck of tarot cards, the Oswald Wirth deck from the 70’s. They still have it, but it’s in French and is seriously weathered and torn from its use over the years. Though difficult to read, it was always right. Then they got some new Tarot decks and they started to learn that different decks really do have different feels, and even the cards can change meanings. They never memorized the meanings of the cards, but they realized one day while playing with their Everyday Tarot deck that they were getting messages and seeing the pictures in a way that they were getting pieces of a story. It’s how they discovered that they are an intuitive tarot reader. While trying to do things to entertain their friends during the pandemic in early 2020, they decided that nothing they were writing was even close to being as interesting as what was going on in the world. Because their life is boring and easy now, they didn’t have the readership they once did. Even their travel videos were a slap in the face to the public who is now being held hostage by a virus in their homes, and it’s not like they could go out and make more anyway! So they started doing live streams. First, they did knit-alongs. Then, they read Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas. Finally, after many years of doing random readings for friends every now and then, they decided to try getting baked out of their mind and do a round of High Stakes Tarot.
