Krystal Mack is an interdisciplinary creative that uses comestibles (food) as a tool to interrogate and improve the world we live in. The core of their work focuses on food at the intersection of emotion and consumption. Viewing food through the lens of healing allows them to juxtapose storytelling with systemic power and oppression and self-care with blind self-destruction. From woodwork and community-based meals to programming and collaborative literary works, their culinary practice is mission-driven and takes many forms. That mission is to empower people with the knowledge that the social politics of food touches almost every aspect of our experience as humans. It is also their mission to teach others how they can utilize food as a tool for designing a more inclusive and nurturing future for their communities and themselves.
