Leonid Schneider

Leonid Schneider is an independent science journalist. They became a journalist because many things go wrong in science: it is so competitive in terms of research funding and jobs that cutting corners became the norm. Many young scientists are forced to drop out or to play along. Worse, research misconduct, data manipulations and even patient abuse are routinely covered up, while most science journalists look away or fail to grasp what is going on. This is also why they are an independent science journalist. Only as such can they report about things others don’t want to see reported. No boss can stop them from releasing critical information which may anger some influential scientists or international research institutions. As George Orwell said it: “Journalism is printing what someone else does not want printed: everything else is public relations.”
