Low-tech Magazine is questioning the belief in technological progress and highlighting the potential of past knowledge and technologies when it comes to designing a sustainable society. Low-tech Magazine was founded in 2007 and publishes an average of twelve well-researched articles per year. Because a web redesign was long overdue and because they try to practice what they preach, they decided to build a new low-tech website that aims to radically reduce the energy use associated with accessing their content. The new blog runs on a self-hosted server that’s powered by a solar panel on the balcony of the author’s home.
