Missmonster is Melita Curphy but please call them Melly. They have been making artwork full-time since 2008 but started selling their work online around 2003. You can see their work on Instagram and Tumblr. They make their living mostly by making artwork for their online shop which you can see here. Over the last thirteen years their work has seen a wide spectrum of materials and applications. They are most proud of seeing their character designs given life with the Zeron Brotherhood they designed for the Guillermo del Toro show 3 Below on Netflix. Their work is also exhibited in Guillermo’s personal collection exhibit at the MUSA in Guadalajara, a huge honor. They also had a mask turned into a 1/6 action figure and comic through Glitch Network which was a big dream come true since they also have a large collection of 1/6 toys. They’ve also created posters for Metallica and Patton Oswalt’s recent tours. It’s been a wild ride! There is a bunch of other things they’ve done but the humble bragging is getting old, haha. Melita wants their Patreon to provide people with an education on molds/casting/sculpting/crafting/painting/ resources but also educate folks on what goes on behind the scenes in the lives of many artists and craftspeople who support themselves through the internet. Even small tips with shipping, pricing, convention displays are little kernels of knowledge that can make things that much easier for other artists. Basically all the things that Melita had to learn on their own through trial and LOTS of error are things they would like to be able to pass on here. They are individuals who work hard and have had to learn skills that reach beyond just making pretty pictures …come learn and see!
