Open Bible Podcast is Steve and Alicia. Steve is LGBTQ, and they won’t lie to you – walking this path of being both gay and Christian hasn’t exactly been easy. In high school, as Steve slowly became aware of their sexuality, they did what a lot of people do: they hid. Steve was deeply afraid, and deeply ashamed. But a funny thing happened as Steve continued to pray and study the Bible. The more Steve learned, the more this text that had seemed so black and white was becoming less and less so, and Steve became more and more convinced that God’s love and blessing exists for LGBTQ people and their relationships and identities. How Steve got there is a long story (that’s why they’re making a podcast!), but at the end of it Steve has found more life, peace, and hope than they ever could have imagined. While a lot has changed for LGBTQ people since Steve was in high school, there are still today tens of thousands of people deeply struggling with their faith and their sexuality, feeling all alone and without hope. At the same time, conservative parents and families often feel equally torn when their child or loved one comes out. These are people desperate for hope, and Steve wants to give it to them. But it’s costly, both in terms of Steve’s expenses and the time Steve is investing. Steve wants to be able to expand Steve’s podcast, to give more people peace, hope, and life.Steve hopes that you, like Steve’s listeners, will identify with the message at the heart of the podcast that, while the journey can be painful, healing is possible. And it starts with opening the Bible
