Patrick Mangan is a Riverdance veteran fiddle soloist who is offering a subscription-based program to fiddle players around the world. Pat grew up immersed in the New York/Sligo style of fiddle playing, learning from some of the greatest proponents of the tradition such as Brian Conway, Paddy Reynolds, Andy McGann, and Tony Demarco. Now an experienced teacher, he is passing on the music to students of his own. The Patreon subscription is geared toward players with some experience on the violin. You may be a classical player looking to learn a new stylistic approach, wondering how to achieve that authentic “fiddle” sound. You may be a traditional player looking to expand your collection of tunes. Whatever your background, all are welcome to push their boundaries and expand their knowledge of traditional Irish music, while having some fun in the process. We will build repertoire while exploring fundamental techniques of fiddle playing such as bowing, ornamentation, variation, ear training, and more. A new studio-quality recording of a tune played slowly and up to speed will be delivered to all subscribers every week, along with sheet music, including bowing suggestions.
