Patrick Wardle is a passionate Mac user and security researcher who’s drank the ‘Apple juice’. While Patrick loves his Mac, he finds it trivial to hack, and current Mac anti-virus software is fairly easy to generically bypass. This all makes Patrick quite sad 🙁 But good news! Patrick decided to do something about it by creating Objective-See. Patrick’s goal was simple: create 100% free, open-source macOS security tools that can generically thwart viruses, trojans, and malware. Patrick also blogs about macOS malware and security vulnerabilities that Patrick discovers in order to educate and secure Mac users. Patrick has published free 10 tools that have been downloaded over a 1/4 million times. And recently, Objective-See won the #1 spot in ToolWatch’s “2016 Top Security Tools” This success and recognition is both humbling and inspiring. So much so, Patrick recently took the (scary) quitting his traditional 9-5 job (goodbye benefits & healthcare) so that Patrick could dedicate Patrick’s time and energy to pursuing Patrick’s passion of Objective-See. While Patrick is completely confident that this was the right decision, as all Patrick’s content is 100% free, Objective-See has no revenue. As such, Patrick’s generosity is truly truly impactful and will support Patrick in creating more Mac security tools.
