R.R. Virdi

R.R. Virdi is a science fiction/fantasy author primarily writing and publishing in the urban fantasy genre. Their series, The Grave Report, has been nominated for a Dragon Award in the best fantasy (paranormal category 2016), and Dangerous Ways, book one of The Books of Winter, has landed in the 2017 Dragon Award finalists as an urban fantasy novel. Many of the author’s short stories have been published in anthologies to benefit charities such as the Alzheimers Association, and St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. They are at the part of their career where the demand for their writing is taking off and the income isnt quite what it needs to be to meet that demand. They are writing full time, landing appearances at conventions and even attending them as an industry professional now. Between writing, attending conferences, researching material, and juggling three series, it’s getting to be time consuming. The career is at the point where it’s make it or break it. The author is consistently working on honing their skills, and producing whatever they can to the best of their ability. In all of that, it’s hard to keep up freelance writing and a stable source of income outside of their writing. And writing income is unpredictable. The author wants to write for the reader, and create art that they can share. They want to be able to dedicate the time to write short stories in between it all, and give those out for free so people can read without having to commit to their novels. Not everyone can afford giant books, but that doesn’t mean they shouldnt be able to read. What their patronage will allow the author to do is all of that hopefully. They’ll be able to keep producing high-quality novels and share them with the world. They’ll be able to follow their dreams and make bigger strides and capitalize on the good things already happening. In the three years since being published, the author has been nominated for a variety of awards, one being a massive one. They’ve met their heroes in the writing world, many of them have copies of their works. They are attending cons as a guest, and they’re just getting started.
