rain crowe / Village Mystery School & Dream Temple

rainCrowe / Village Mystery School & Dream Temple is a cadre of magical-cultural artists dedicated to serving the descendants of Life by supporting a spectrum of communities in growing their resilience, imagination, and intimacy. They belong to a clan of web-weavers, walk-betweens, and edge-tenders who continually collaborate in the embodiment of an emerging earth culture, rooted in the re-membered, regenerative, relational practices of the ancestors. They belong to a lineage of experienced educators, facilitators, activists, story-tellers and priestesses of Earth-based spirituality. They belong to all beings with whom they share accountable relationships, at a radical land project in Portland, Oregon. They belong to the source of creation, as they work and play in strategic visioning; focusing on how the Great Spell: the all-encompassing, uncompromising collective liberation that is their birthright, may continue to move through the vessel of them and their kith and kin. They belong to the spirit-spoken call of unequivocal commitment to ecological interdependence and decolonization. And not least of all, they belong to keeping temple in the woods behind their home, where they are held in the company of Mystery. Of blood, they are most recently from the Midwest, settled onto the ancestral lands of the Calumet people. And before them, from the lands of Poland, Croatia, and Ukraine. They belong by adoption to the Briton and Germanic peoples, and they’ve been learning about their bloodlines and adopted genealogies and heritages for over a decade. Currently they live on the ancestral lands of the Multnomah, Clackamas, and Tualatin Kalapuyan peoples of Chinook nation- the lands of the salmon, cedar, camus, huckleberry, acorn, and so many more beings. Here, at the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers, they inhabit a small home on the edge of a woods with their wyld neighbors. They share land-tending on a seven-acre project committed to equity, justice, regenerative culture, and spiritual expression. Here together, they tend gardens, goats, and each other, through a lived promise of learning how to enact solidarity and work through internalized patterns of oppression. Over the last thirty years they have studied political movements, comparative religion, cultural anthropology, systems thinking, trauma-counseling, group and interpersonal conflict transformation, the histories of oppression, survivor advocacy, witchcraft, magic, and ritual. Their learning path includes formal university, Bolads Kitchen, the Reclaiming Tradition, continuing educational programs, and life as an out cisqueer-femme, raised working-poor, white-privileged, and disabled edge-walker. They are most grateful for all of their teachers with whom they’ve studied, learn from every person (human and beyond) they meet, and are committed to a humble wisdom path. Currently they earn their livelihood as an ancestral connection guide, group process facilitator, conflict worker, ritual priestess, spiritual advisor, consultant, and educator through a series of courses, programs, trainings, and mentorships about content at the intersection of radical political history/engagement and animist spiritual connection. They’re compelled to explore enduring questions about how some of us as modern human creatures came to be in estrangement and disenchantment, and how we can leave a living world for the ones yet to come by reviving interdependence and re-enchantment rooted in the knowingness of the preciousness of our existence. They create evocative, potent, and necessary works rooted in spiritual service for individuals and groups to explore, understand, integrate, and act upon. Their work is grounded in anti-oppression theory and praxis and is explicitly focused on dismantling injustice for shared liberation and well-being. The visions of Village Mystery School and Dream Temple are in need of resources and focused time to come to be. They know together they can find a physical home for the school, they can breathe into the development of their infrastructure, and they can grow a refuge in the perfect storm of collapse from the compost of all forms of supremacism.
