RetroOnyx is Kevin Mellott. They’ve been building retro gaming hardware for the last ~7 years. Electrical engineer for 12 years. They first brought the VB link cable to life as a shippable product in 2017. Since those days on PlanetVB.com, they’ve also designed, built, and shipped several reprogrammable VB carts (4/8/16/32/128/256Mbit designs), a VB cart programmer, VB controller USB adapters compatible with PC/RetroPie/Oculus, VB controller extension cables, VB USB link cables, and SNES controller to VB adapters. They’ve also recently started a VB rumble pack project and even a VB WiFi adapter project. Their biggest project so far has been their Virtual Boy eInk flash cart called HyperFlash32. They spent nearly a year designing and building HF32 and the feedback has been very positive. HF32 is the first eInk flash cart with built in haptics for any gaming system in the world. They’ve learned a great deal with that project and will carry many lessons learned there forward into other projects. Their goal here is to bring eInk to as many flash carts as possible. They branch out to other systems. They have built a DC serial link cable, DC coders cable, as well as Wonderswan link cables and USB cables. They even built a PlayStation PS1 coders USB cable. They’ve also done USB adapters for the Nintendo Power Glove, custom VR rifle recoil haptics, and a few other custom projects. They currently have several Wonderswan projects in the works like battery pack and cart designs. They have lots of ideas for retro gaming gear and their goal is to focus those efforts and get more gear to people at a faster pace.
