Rulerless

Rulerless

Rulerless is a literary anthology that publishes a tome of radical poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction once a year, both in print and freely online. It was founded in early 2021 and has gone through a few changes since then, originally planning to publish three magazine issues per year before switching to the annual anthology model, but the core of Rulerless has always remained the same. While Rulerless is explicitly anarchist, it does not only publish anarchist writers and artists. Its main requirement for publishing someone (other than their work being quality) is for them not to have engaged in abusive, misogynistic, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, ageist, or otherwise bigoted behavior nor expressed such ideas. Its next most important requirement for publication is that people not act as though they can count on the state or corporations to save them. The art it publishes, if not always explicitly anarchist, is revolutionary and anarchic. It also between in having a high degree of unity in action between social anarchists, individualist anarchists, communalists, democratic confederalists, libertarian Marxists, and other varieties of libertarian socialists. Furthermore, Rulerless is intended to be a safe space for marginalized people, survivors, and other people who feel unsafe in the current world. It loves and encourages submissions from such people, and has plans in the works to create a volume consisting of only non-white contributors.
