Shnuggletea is a writer who happens to be a big anime/manga nerd. When they were eight, their brother introduced them to SM. When they were ten, they were introduced to a friend of their brother’s who was also into the show. And they introduced them to fanfiction. All through middle school, they would stay up late on the family computer reading until their eyes were so tired, they couldn’t see! They took breaks, reading on and off through high school and college. Then, when they were dissatisfied with some fanfiction and published books, they decided to write for themselves. Their first fic ever was The Customer is Always Right, a SM fanfiction that was… terrible, lol! They even rewrote it, and it’s still not the best the struggles of an artist. After four years of writing fanfiction (five, if you include the year before they took a long break), they’ve started writing originals. Although, they have nothing complete to the point of selling yet (one is close but needs more work). They hope to be published in a year or two. They also plan to start a Patreon that’s originals only in 2022. Everyone has their own reasons for creating a Patreon page. Most feel they have a product that should be shared and hope to make a living off it. While Shnuggletea is in that boat, it’s not so simple. With recently buying a house and being a parent, there are many bills. Their husband took a significant cut in pay so that they could be closer to their family. The house they bought needs work, and there are many other things they hope to achieve in the future that takes money (as everything does in this world). They do not expect their fans to pay their bills; we all have money problems in this day and age. It’s why they don’t do Kofi; a donation website (they have one, but they don’t use it, and no one ever sends them money). With Patreon, they’re offering a product, and they feel much more comfortable with that than people just sending them money. While Shnuggletea does write originals, it takes a lot more time to write them and see any profit from them. In the end, their goal is to be a published writer, and this Patreon page helps them achieve that in many ways. They get to practice their craft, tell stories that are all theirs save for the characters, make money to help support their family, and supply proof of concept for agents and publishers. They can’t express this enough, by becoming a subscriber, you are showing their future agent/publisher that their work is worth paying for. As much as Shnuggletea loves writing fanfiction, it is not their end goal, and becoming a subscriber here shows them that they can someday have more.
