Solidarity Lobby

Solidarity Lobby

The Solidarity Lobby is a social welfare advocacy organization which operates to serve a large but electorally homeless group: those who favor broadly social democratic policies, are committed religious believers, and are deeply sceptical that modern capitalism is compatible with 1 and 2. In fact, most of them think that the current system is broken beyond repair, but that they have a responsibility to try to fix it anyway. They serve this group by: taking clear, common- sense positions on the major issues in partnership with their sister think tank organization, the Solidarity Policy Collective, ranking proposed legislation at the Federal (and in future, State) level to score how it measures up against their positions, bothering politicians to try to get them to vote the right way (this is normally called advocacy), maintaining a scorecard that gives a grade to politicians based on how often they do vote the right way, providing tactical advice to individual donors and citizens on how best to advance a Solidarity Agenda depending on where they live (red district, blue district, swing), maintaining a library of model legislation and other political victory in a box resources such as regulations and ordinances that can be implemented by bureaucrats without a vote, or sample ballot measures that can be pursued by the people without the bureaucrats.
