Storm Sen

Storm Sen is born in 1982 and raised all over India. They graduated in Business Management from the University of Mumbai’s St. Andrews College in 2005 after working for 5 years in the video game industry, where their pseudonym originated. After treating photography like a mistress for those 5 years, Shivaji decided they needed a more formal and academic understanding of their craft. In 2011, they attained a Masters Degree in Fine Art Photography from The Arts University Bournemouth, England. Shivaji is now an independent artist and a freelance image maker who works in Fashion and Advertising with a fine art approach. A lot of their work is inspired from modern and contemporary artists like Saul Leiter, Alexander McQueen, Helmut Newton, Salvador Dali to name a few. Most of their work predominantly reflects the contrasting nature they carry within themselves, like an oxymoron. Deep lit up colors which otherwise go unnoticed, loud and imploding silences in their pictures speak volumes of their perception of the world as a storyteller. Always the one to choose unusual subjects for their pictures; they give us a window into their perception of beauty and its intricacies in the visual arts. In their mainstream work in Mumbai, India, they have created some refreshing editorials for Femina, Grazia and The Week. The list of their celebrity subjects includes names such as Dia Mirza, Kalki Koechlin, Radhika Apte, Aditi Rao Hydari, Vicky Kaushal, Richa Chadda, Soha Ali Khan, Gulshan Devaiah, Priyanka Bose, etc. They have recently diversified into direction and film making with clients like Adidas and Birla Gold Cement. However, they continue to pursue their interest in portraiture photography in their personal time.
