The Darkwood House Gallery is a curated space for established and new, emerging artists with a shared desire and ability for creating dark, macabre, and surreal works of art. As dark artists themselves, they are passionate about the work they create and curate, and strive to offer their fellow artists a unique setting in which to display their work. Their mission is to provide them with the attention and respect they so richly deserve in order to showcase their work to those with a penchant for a vision of art that is oft ignored or even shunned by other mainstream galleries and venues. The Darkwood House Gallery was only recently established in September 2020, but it has long been a dark vision of a small collective of close, passionate, disturbed friends and artists for many years. They have already hosted monthly Dark Art Markets, inviting artists and craftspeople to sell their works and creations. But due to concerns over the Covid-19 pandemic, they have suspended those large events for the time being. In the meantime they are focusing on offering virtual events, and solo exhibitions within the gallery that are by invitation only, with attendance limits. This supports their mission to offer artists and patrons with a penchant for a vision of art that is oft ignored or even shunned by mainstream galleries and venues a unique setting in which to display their work. They also wish to begin renovating their restroom and adding a wheelchair ramp to their main entrance in order to make them a fully accessible facility with no barriers. They will then be one of the few, if not the only art gallery in the area to be accessible to all patrons and artists.
