Thea Maria Carlson

Thea Maria Carlson is an earth steward, facilitator, consultant, writer, photographer, and community weaver. In the fall of 2020, they came face to face with the climate crisis when the land where they live was severely burned by an extreme wildfire. As they returned to the blackened earth, charred trees, and ash and debris of flattened buildings, they were called to embark on a learning journey on living with fire. Since the fire, they have been photographing the daily unfolding of destruction and renewal, researching and reflecting on how we can live with fire and meet the current climate crisis, learning directly from the land and from multiple other streams of knowing. They invite you to join them in community as this creative learning journey continues to unfold. Wildfire affects all of us, whether it is a direct threat to our homes, the air we breathe, the farms that feed us, or the wild lands we love. Extreme wildfire is a tangible expression of the climate crisis that is affecting every corner of the planet. And they believe fire can also teach us how to create greater balance to our lives and to this beloved earth that is our home.
