Turtle Bear is Oliver and Allison. They will spend the next year artistically rendering the healing process after Oliver’s stem cell transplant and ongoing cancer therapies. They look forward to generously sharing sculptural and software experiences as a series of hallucinations, rituals, and metaphors. This will include virtual reality guided meditations and embodied explorations, which reflect a transformation in their relationship to technology and inner life. Both abstract and concrete, they enthusiastically chose this way to communicate their creative and intellectual insights. A few topics to anticipate: regrowing your whole digestive tract (relating poetically to infants’ learning to control their somatic self, and subsequent compartmentalization of digestion to a “lower” function), or how cutting your finger nails encourages honesty and forgiveness – the past as material legacy digested and discarded. They hope you find meaning in this work, as they already have. Thank you for your support and sharing this exploratory process.
