Perry is a writer, teacher, and musician currently at work on their MFA in fiction at Virginia Commonwealth University. Their writing explores the vagaries of memory and grief, family dynamics, the role of nature and technology in human life, and the occasional surreality of existence. They tend toward the speculative, the slipstream, the experimental, the humorous, the surreal. You can read some of their work here, and in some small presses like Arq Press, WriteSpace, Barstow and Grand, and the Clackamas Literary Review. They came to writing because they fell in love with certain sentences. Theyve stuck around because it’s the biggest challenge they can think of, and they want to see if they’re up for it. They hope you join them on the journey and that you enjoy their efforts. As a musician, they are primarily a drummer, having played in bands and ensembles since their high school days. They play drum kit, congas, doumbek, and frame drum. They’ve recently added bass and five-string banjo to their repertoire. Some prior music projects of theirs include Secrets in the Salt and The Body Electric.
