A.J. Cerna

A.J. Cerna is like many of you. They’ve been consuming stories for as long as they can remember. From novels like the Redwall series to movies like Back to the Future and manga series like “One Piece,” they’ve forever been agnostic to the medium of storytelling. And, for almost as long as that, they’ve wanted to tell stories across different mediums. They grew up wanting to be a novelist, but also grew into the world of screenwriting. They attended film school at Chapman University, where their taste was further formed with a more in-depth sense of storytelling. Amid all this, they grew obsessed with anime, manga, and video games. They even had a short stint in the anime industry writing anime dubs — and if you’re real nice, they may even tell you which ones. They dabbled in many adjacent industries. From the anime and manga journalism industry to the blockbuster film industry, where they acted as editor-in-chief for the website LRM Online, and eventually started publishing novels. As they’ve explored the world of publishing with their coauthor Derek Alan Siddoway, and the deeper they got, the more they understood their true taste coming to the forefront. While they love fantasy and science fiction stories, they hungered for a true genre and medium mashup of sorts. Stories that weave in the best aspects of screenwriting, along with the structure and style of their favorite manga series. They craved to create novel series that have crossover appeal to film lovers, anime/manga fans, and TV bingers. Their tales will be for what they call story junkies. They come from all walks of life, indulge in different mediums, and are eager to read stories that lovingly pull franchises and classics across the board.
