Dylan Griffin is an illustrator / designer from Boston who graduated from Lesley University College of Art & Design with a BFA in Illustration in 2015. Their interests in drawing and painting these environments is directly tied to their experiences with nature throughout their youth, and how it resonated with them personally. Seeing it represented in art and animated films and games in their childhood, especially influential artists and designers like Fumito Ueda, Tadao Ando, and Kazuo Oga expressing Shintoism through their respective mediums had a part in this. After finishing undergraduate studies, they’ve worked to hone their skills very seriously, and these influences have allowed them to envision how they could translate such concepts to their illustrated work. They still have a lot to learn, and they’re always working towards increasing their curiosity and improving. As someone who used to draw almost exclusively character art, they’ve grown into applying their existing and new skills to treat environments as an alternative form of character.
