JaneyLaney is a full-time family-friendly content creator and they enjoy video gaming. They play and stream a lot of Minecraft. Since the first day they played in 2018, they realized there was no representation in the game, and barely in the content creation space. They then created BlackMinecraft as a way to get the discussion of diversity and inclusion into the mind frame of the gaming space. Since starting, they have created:- Skins that depict Black and POC- BlackMinecraft Minecraft server(s)- BlackMinecraft: The Podcast They have been featured for their work:- Minecraft’s Meet A Minecrafter – ESA Foundation: #InvestInThem series – E3 – Woman of Xbox – Minecon 2019 They have become:- Part of Facebook Gaming’s Black Content Creator Programme – Advisor for Cyber XR Coalition (D&I content creator) Their ultimate goal is to be able to bring special S.T.E.A.M programs and projects to our Black and POC youth through Minecraft. This will in turn help attract more diverse content creators, and in turn a more diverse audience.
