Samantha Benc is making comics. They mostly deal with themes of the anti-corporate nature (yes they know), environmentalism, nature, queerness and radical acts of compassion. They tend to prefer science fiction due to its ability to be both familiar, and new, as well as predicative. But they do like to experiment with other genres. In 2024 their debut graphic novel LAST SHIP TO MARS will launch. This is a big passion project for them, very near and dear to their heart, and will also be taking up a large bulk of their artistic energies for the next 2 to 3 years. They plan on heavily documenting this process, the making of a graphic novel from start to finish with an emphasis on process, behind the scenes, and marketing insights. Some content they plan to start with: LAST SHIP TO MARS Production Diary Blog Posts Early Access to Art/WIP Videos (process, studio tour, etc) Some other things they are working on setting up, and would like to roll out: Video chats/livestreams Hosting Figure Drawing Sessions once or twice a month Physical Packages of prints/stickers etc. Exclusive Comics Their goals with this Patreon will largely be in flux for the next couple of months, as they figure out their work flow, and experiment with some of the additional content they would like to add. Their input and experiences will be valuable too, and they want to provide content that is enjoyable and beneficial to all of us! They especially have a lot of interest in providing content that is valuable to those who are interested in the making of comics, either as creators themselves, or readers who want to see or learn more about the behind the scenes! But most importantly, this Patreon is a way to meaningfully support themselves as a creator, as well as create a deeper connection with their audience and peers.
