Sophie Labelle is a trans artist from Montreal, Quebec, who came to art by accident. They were studying elementary school teaching when their webcomic Assigned Male, which they started to entertain their trans friends at school, started getting worldwide attention, which prompted them to transition and go full-time as a cartoonist. (Their mom actually still thinks it’s a phase.) Sophie is also the author of the book, “My Dad Thinks I’m a Boy” an hilarious children’s book (4-8 yo) about a trans girl who has to deal with the fact that her dad thinks she’s a boy.
