Patron Hunt

Tom Tanuki is a writer, satirist and anti-fascist activist. They cover fringe or participatory politics in Australia – the world of protests, activism and so on. They do a bit of political comedy online, on the stage and at rallies. They’re the guy who done the shit-stirring direct action anti-racist group Yelling At Racist Dogs (YARD), the shit-stirring fake nationalist group Million Flag Patriots, and many other projects besides. Their head has popped up around activism in Australia for over 5 years. What else? Heaps, I guess. They reckon they staged the world’s first far right patriot rally. They reckon they co-created the world’s first theatre-comedy show by an actual anti-fascist group. Their work has been discussed sympathetically by ABC’s Media Watch… and less sympathetically by Andrew Bolt, The Australian, and pretty much every Australian far-right grifter ever. They have done all while broke, of course, and they gladly continue to do so while broke; but what this work requires is time. They need the time to do a lot more. That is more important to them than money, but money means they can spend less time away from their side gig and more time doing this, their passion.
