Monstrorum Historia is a creative research / rehabilitative project led by a woman gradually losing her ability to speak. She is also losing memories (reading and writing, too, grow progressively harder) but her intellect remains unscathed for now. In response to disability and chronic illness Wendy is teaching herself how to draw, and how to communicate gesturally, poetically and satirically instead of academically. She is investigating her fading past, but also semiology, psyche, historiography and deep ecology through embodied regenerative methodologies. Wendy’s project aims to produce an ongoing collection of essays/vignettes that will build into volumes of graphic memoir.
