Therapists Who Rock! is Lisa Southerland. They founded Therapists Who Rock in 2013 to connect mental health therapists to resources, jobs, continuing education information, and most importantly, with each other. Currently, Therapists Who Rock takes up about 5-10 hours of their time each week. This time is spent managing the Facebook page, vetting and approving members, monitoring posts, deleting any inappropriate posts (or members), reaching out to posters, and searching for continuing education, mental health resources and impactful legislation/mental health news to share with the group. TWR started with themselves and 60 other social workers and counselors, and has now grown to over 3,100 mental health professionals around the state. It has become a vital resource among mental health professionals in their small, rural state. Therapists Who Rock also runs the Therapists Who Rock Facebook page which serves as a mental health connection between therapists, non therapists and community providers. They also run the other TWR social media pages. They also have the TWR website they started for a calendar of mental health events around the state of Arkansas. a blog, and a list of free online CEUs and other mental health resources. They love spending time cultivating and sharing mental health information and impactful news with others. In their non TWR time, they work full time as a trauma therapist, are on-call after hours for their employer one week a month, volunteer with different local organizations, and most importantly, they are a single parent to two sons.
